Afternoon started cloudy with continued west winds. Marking bait fish
in 65-75 feet of water. The big fish are congregating below the
thermocline, about 65 feet down. Best action was from 85-95 feet of
water, starting at the thermocline and below. Large red dodger, 7 feet
behind the ball, green fly brought in a number of fat cohos. These fish
have alewifes hanging out of their mouths when we net them. The
kevorkian down 90-95 feet, fished 60 feet behind the ball, brought in a
handful of mid teen kings. Plastic dodgers, both green and white, 10
feet behind the dypsy divers with green or blue boy flies, fished
150-200 on the counter at a 1.5 setting was spectacular for all kinds
of action from kings to cohos and even some nice steehead. Large clown
dodggers with sparkle tape on one side, down 75 feet on the down-rigger
with 12 pound balls, green flies, also a killer combo. For all the
critters of the lake that are chewing.
Cloudy day, minimal wind. Started in 85 feet. Great action all the way
up to 115 feet. Took four kings over 12 pounds on blue boy flies down
95 feet. The big red dodger with a green fly down 65 to 75 feet worked
the best for fat cohos. Got the limit for five people.
The day started sunny but turned cloudy and extremely windy. Fishing in
85 to 100 feet of water. Temperature break was at 65 feet. Downriggers
fished 75 to the bottom with a red dodger and green fly, placed 10 feet
behind the ball. The Cohos were really hitting on this combination. The
kevorkian spoon down 95 feet caught the attention of 3 kings. The
inside dypsys set on 1.5 at 175 feet on the counter, with green plastic
dodger and green fly, fished 10 feet behind the dypsy took the most
fish. The wind and current kicked up tangling lines towards the end of
the trip.
PM trip resheduled due to high winds.

Just a little heads up... perch season closes for the month of july
,except for kids under ten years of age. The perch are in the harbors
real thick. They are biting in the early mornings ( 5am to 7am) and in
the evenings (7pm to 8:30). A slip bobber down 10 - 15 feet with large
shiner or soft shell crab will be the easiest way to catch the perch,
but the way to pull the jumbos is with shad rap with an in-line
sinker(1/4 to 3/8 of an oz.) with a cast out far, open bail until the
line stops coming out(make sure that you close your bail before the
bait hits the water to prevent twist in your rig) jerk/jerk...slow
retreive pull is the way that the bait should be retreived. Snap and
pull it back. Pop it erratically.
Take a breath between repetitions, don't go too fast. You will not feel the hit.
Tip 1: The best way to ensure that your bait is working the way you want to is to watch it along the break wall.
Tip 2: The rapala SR05 SD is working the best.
Tip 3: If you can't rent a bite on the above, try a single or a double spinner from Park Bait of Henry's. With a single hook behind the spinner and a split shot three feet above it. USing soft shell. Throw it out and retrieve it slowly.
